Crochet Baby Dress
This is a very cute dress perfect for pictures or any
special occasion.
I made mine in pink and white, but you can use any
color you like;
as long as you use cotton light weight yarn 😊
Instructions: 0-3 months
Measurements:
Finished Chest: 14 inches
Finished Length: 11 inches
Level: Intermediate
Materials:
· I Love This Cotton brand from Hobby Lobby (pink and
white)
light weight yarn. You will use about 3 oz. and about
1 oz. of
white
· Crochet hook: 4.0mm
· Thread and needle to attach button and bow.
· One small button 5/8 in (16mm)
· 2 ¼ width satin ribbon (14 inches). This is for optional satin
bow.
· 3/8 width
satin ribbon (10 inches)
Gauge; 17 stiches = 4 inches; 7
rows = 4" in dc. Use any hook size to obtain this gauge.
Abbreviations:
• ch - chain
• sp - space
• sk - skip
• st - stitch
• sl st - slip stitch
• sc – single crochet
• hdc – half double crochet
• dc V st – double crochet V stitch (1 dc, chain 1, 1
dc in the
same st)
• dc – double crochet
• shell st – shell stitch (3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc worked in
the same space
or stitch)
• * = repeat whatever follows the* as indicated.
• dc3tog- double crochet 3 together
Special
Stitch
Shell Picot Stitch (shell picot st) make 3 dc, ch 3 insert
hook
back into the center of the base st, yarn over, pull
through all loops
on hook, make 3 dc in the same ch 3 space from
previous shell st.
Notes:
1. Chain 2 at the beginning of each round does not
count as a stitch
unless specified.
2. Weave in ends or bury in ends as you work.
3. Measure chest when you finish Row 5 to make sure
that you are
getting the correct chest measurement.
4. Make V sts in the ch 1 space of the previous V
stitch.
5. I used a 4.0 mm hook for a 0 - 3 months dress.
Going up a hook
size will create a larger dress.

Row 1
With white yarn ch 66, make one dc in the third ch
from the hook
(button opening), 1 dc in the next 7 sts, make a dc V
st, make 1 dc in
the next 14 sts, make a dc V st, 1 dc in the next 16
sts, make a dc V
st, 1 dc in the next 14 sts, make a dc V st in the
next st, make 1 dc in
the next 8 sts, ch 2 and turn. (60 dc, 4 V sts)
Row 2
Make 1 dc in the same ch 2, make 1 dc in the next 8
sts, make a dc V
st, make 1 dc in the next 16 sts, make a dc V st, 1 dc
in the next 18
sts, make a dc V st, 1 dc in the next 16 sts, make a
dc V st, 1 dc in
the next 9 sts, ch 2 and turn. (68 dc, 4 dc V sts)
Row 3
Make 1 dc in the same ch 2 st, make 1 DC in the next 9
sts, make a dc
V st, (make 1 sc, sk 1, make 5 dc in the next st, sk 1)
4 times, make 1 sc, sk 1. (40 dc, 4 V sts, 4 groups of 5 dc
each sleeve)
Joining the
Sleeves
Round 4
Ch 2, make 1 dc in the same ch 2 st, make 1 dc in the
next 10 sts. Make
a dc V st, sk to the next dc V st from previous round
and make a dc V st for the arm opening. 1 dc in the next 22 sts, make a dc V
st, make
a dc V st, skip to the next dc V st from previous
round and make a dc V st, make 1 dc in the next 11 sts. Sl st sl to the first
dc to end this round. (44 dc, 4 V sts)
Change to
Pink
Round 5
Ch 2, make a hdc in the same ch 2 st, 1 hdc all the
way around. On
the closing of the sleeves make sure to make 1 hdc in
the ch 1 space of
the V st, 1hdc in the middle of both, then 1 hdc in
the next V st, do
this for the other sleeve as well. Sl st on top of ch
2 to end this round. (52 hdc)
Round 6
Ch 2, 1 hdc in the same st, 1 hdc all the way around.
Sl st on top of
ch 2 to end this round. (52 hdc)
Change to
White
Skirt Begins
Round 7
*Ch 3, sk 2, make a sc. Repeat from* to end this
round. Sl st on
the first ch of this round. (17 ch 3 space)
Round 8
Ch 2, *make a shell st in the ch 3 sp. Repeat from * to
the end.
Sl st on the first ch to end this round.
Round 9
Ch 2 * make a shell st in each ch 3 sp of the shell st
from previous
round.
Round 10
Repeat round 9
Change to
Pink
Round 11
Attach pink yarn. Ch 2, working behind round 10* make
a shell st in the
ch 3 sp of the shell st from round 9. Repeat from * to
end this round. Sl
st to the top of ch 2 to end this round.
Round 12-14
Ch 2 * make a shell st in each ch 3 sp of the shell st
from previous
round. Repeat from *. Sl st to the top of ch 2 to end
this round.
Round 15
Attach white yarn. Ch 2, working behind round 14* make
a shell st in the
Ch 3 sp of the shell st from round 13.
st to the top of ch 2 to end this round.
Round 16
Ch 2 * make a shell st in each ch 3 sp of the shell st
from previous
round. Repeat from *. Sl st to the top of ch 2 to end
this round.
Round 17
Ch 2, make a picot shell st in each ch 3 sp around. Sl
st to the top of ch 2 to end this round.
Neck Edge
With the back of dress facing you, attach white yarn
to the upper, left
corner (across from the button hole). You
will be working in the unused loop of the starting chain.
Row 1
Ch1, make 1 HDC in the next 7 sts, dc3tog, make 1 HDC
in the next 12
sts, make dc3tog in the next st, make 1 HDC in the
next 14 sts, make
dc3tog in the next st, make 1 HDC in the next 12 sts,
make dc3tog in the
next st, make 1 HDC in the next 7 sts. sl st to end
this row.
For this
dress you can put a satin bow as shown on pictures or a crochet flower.
Cut the yarn and finish off here.
Finishing
Weave in any end that you may have forgotten.
Sew the button on the back.
Attach satin bow.
